Position Overview

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional care to individuals experiencing psychiatric or emotional challenges. This position requires adherence to the hospital's care philosophy, fostering a supportive and therapeutic environment for all patients. Continuous communication with nursing staff and active participation in the patient's care plan are essential responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Certification in CPR and SAMA is required, with training provided by the employer.
  • Licenses: No specific licenses are required.
  • Experience: Prior clinical experience in a behavioral health setting is preferred, particularly in a dedicated psychiatric facility.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Exceptional communication abilities and active listening skills are essential, complemented by a friendly demeanor that promotes engagement.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, demonstrating strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Screening Requirements: Candidates must successfully complete a background check, drug screening, and physical examination, and provide positive employment references.
  • Physical Requirements: With or without reasonable accommodations, candidates must be capable of performing various physical activities, including but not limited to stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for extended periods, walking, lifting, and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
