Position Summary
Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation is a significant public space dedicated to enhancing the connection between people, nature, and the waterfront. We are currently seeking a Mechanic to manage and provide maintenance services for all park equipment. This role involves performing skilled mechanical work on various maintenance equipment, including Toro and Fairway club cars, snow removal machinery, and park vehicles. The Mechanic will also collaborate with the maintenance team to troubleshoot mechanical systems throughout the park.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Evening or weekend work is not typically required unless in cases of severe weather.
- Healthcare benefits, paid time off, pension, and a 403B retirement plan are included.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in various park equipment, including diesel, electric, and gasoline-powered vehicles.
- Oversee a thorough preventative maintenance program for all park machinery.
- Train park operations staff on preventative maintenance and safe equipment operation.
- Prioritize and manage equipment repair and maintenance tasks.
- Conduct performance checks on equipment within the park and execute emergency repairs as needed.
- Supervise the shop and warehouse areas.
- Communicate maintenance needs or issues to the Director of Facilities and relevant personnel.
- Manage equipment inventory using the Park's asset management software.
- Complete work orders efficiently.
- Maintain comprehensive records of equipment and parts inventory, repair costs, and maintenance schedules.
- Support the maintenance team on larger projects as required.
