Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Focus Staff. As a COTA, you will work closely with our occupational therapists to provide high-quality patient care and support individuals in achieving their goals.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. You will be responsible for implementing activities and therapies to help individuals develop life-management skills, with a focus on play-based therapies and functional approaches.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient care as an Occupational Therapy Assistant to patients in assigned facilities.
  • Assist patients under the direction of an Occupational Therapist to maximize their potential in activities of daily living, including self-care, meal time skills, and manipulation skills.
  • Construct adaptive equipment and self-help devices as recommended by the OT.
  • Assist the OT in instructing and educating patients and families for home care and carryover.
  • Properly and accurately document and chart observations and other data related to the clinical condition of the patient.
  • Deliver age-appropriate care for the patient population.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs to monitor proficiency, expand current knowledge, and enhance professional excellence.
Requirements:
  • Must possess independent decision-making skills.
  • Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions.
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Ability to relate positively to residents and families and work cooperatively with other employees.
  • Meet all local health regulations and successfully complete a post-offer health assessment.
  • Physical and sensory requirements include walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to read and write, ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with residents, families, personnel, vendors, and consultants, ability to remain calm under stress, and ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures.
Work Experience:

At least 2 years of experience as a COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) is required.
