Job Title: Library Assistant

Job Summary:

The City of Oceanside is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to provide exceptional customer service and support to our library patrons. As a Library Assistant, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our library services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to library patrons, answering questions and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with the maintenance of library collections, including shelving, processing, and cataloging materials.
  • Support the development and implementation of library programs and services, including outreach and community engagement.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as data entry, record-keeping, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with library staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in a library or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for long periods.

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time, benefited position working 32 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
