Job SummaryThe Chief Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the overall physical condition of the hotel, ensuring labor and quality standards are upheld, and assisting with establishing a positive work environment. This role requires a high level of specialized expertise in all areas of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for equipment, guestrooms, meeting space, and all other areas of the hotel.
- Perform repairs of minor mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building-related components.
- Oversee maintenance department efforts relating to training, scheduling, and counseling.
- Coordinate and manage all maintenance projects and outside contractors, including gathering proposals, making recommendations, creating timelines, and resolving issues.
- Provide training and coaching to direct reports.
- Maintain pool areas according to company and brand standards, as well as applicable state and local codes.
- Maintain external property appearance, including lawn, landscaping, and parking lot.
- Monitor and oversee department budget, including payroll and product inventories.
- Ensure compliance with all required health, safety, and security standards and procedures.
- Monitor and oversee inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Maintain basic knowledge of fire safety equipment, refrigeration, pool, and elevator operation.
- Maintain operational knowledge of common power and hand tools.
- Assist team members and other departments as needed to contribute to operational efficiency.
- Process purchase orders and invoices for payment.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle stressful situations with poise and professionalism.
