Position Summary
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 5am - 3pm
The role involves operating various conventional automatic and manual metalworking machinery, including but not limited to countersinks, presses, saws, hole punches, drills, grinders, and gang mills. The primary responsibility is to execute standardized machining processes on produced Roton hinges or Threshold/Weather-Stripping products.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints and routing sheets to ascertain material needs and operational sequence.
- Align workpieces against stops, blocks, or pins and engage machinery to carry out tasks.
- Operate machines to validate setups and create pilot workpieces for inspection; utilize measuring tools such as calipers, height gauges, tape measures, and templates to assess dimensions.
- Transport and stack workpieces between stations.
- Maintain and lubricate machinery and tools.
- Adhere to all safety and environmental protocols.
- Conduct quality inspections.
- Perform additional related tasks as necessary.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience: Minimum of six months experience as a Machine Operator or in a similar role.
Skills/Knowledge: Must possess the ability to read and write in English, understand oral and written instructions, and perform basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. Proficiency in using adjustable measuring instruments is essential.
Physical Requirements: The position demands physical activities typical of this role, requiring the ability to stand, walk, reach, push, pull, grasp, talk, hear, and see. The employee must be capable of lifting weights ranging from 25 to 60 pounds occasionally and/or 1 to 5 pounds continuously from floor to waist and moving them over distances of 6 to 8 feet. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Maintaining alertness while performing job duties is crucial.
Equipment Used: This includes, but is not limited to, Metal Working Machines, Tape Measures, Height Gauges, Calipers, Templates, and Dies.
