Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Magnolia Animal Dentistry. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering high-quality dental services.
Responsibilities:- Obtain thorough health histories from clients and handle patients with care and attention to detail.
- Complete laboratory work as required and take radiographs as directed, ensuring accurate positioning and radiation safety.
- Perform intravenous catheter placement and assist in collecting samples for diagnostics, utilizing correct veterinary terminology to complete medical records.
- Administer injections and other treatments as directed, monitoring anesthesia and preparing patients for surgery.
- Perform dental prophylaxis and fill prescriptions for patients, demonstrating a strong understanding of commonly used medications.
- Provide client education and maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring a dynamic and efficient team experience.
- At least 2 years of experience performing the above duties, with a strong focus on anesthesia monitoring, dental assisting, and pre & post-op care.
- Confident communication skills and a willingness to take initiative, with a strong understanding of pharmaceutical drugs and calculations.
- Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, requiring lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion.
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
