The CT Imaging Specialist is responsible for performing advanced computer tomography procedures and related techniques, generating both sectional and three-dimensional images for diagnostic interpretation. This role is critical in assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Certification Requirements: Team members are required to obtain ARRT (CT) certification within the first year of employment and must achieve American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.
- CT Procedure Execution: Conduct complex CT examinations, utilizing professional judgment to gather and document patient clinical histories accurately.
- Patient Interaction: Prepare and review contrast questionnaires with patients or their family members, ensuring all information is accurately recorded.
- Contrast Administration: Identify and administer contrast media as prescribed by licensed practitioners, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Prescription Verification: Review patient prescriptions for appropriateness, communicating with Radiologists and Referring Physicians as necessary to clarify any discrepancies.
- Insurance Coordination: Verify insurance authorization for exams and manage modifications as needed for re-verification.
- Study Management: Obtain outside studies and ensure they are scheduled and available for Radiologists to compare with current imaging.
- Radiograph Evaluation: Utilize PACS to evaluate radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic quality.
- Patient Preparation: Ensure patients are adequately prepared for procedures, including necessary shielding and immobilization.
- Monitoring: Observe patients for any adverse reactions during procedures and respond accordingly.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning.
- Familiarity with CT software and hardware.
- Proficient in using PACS systems.
- Previous experience in CT is preferred.
- Knowledge of hospital information systems, including Epic.
Flexibility is required for scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays, with potential for overtime to ensure high-quality patient care.
Physical RequirementsThe role involves lifting a minimum of 25 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs., and standing for extended periods. It is essential to adapt care to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations.
Professional StandardsAll team members are expected to adhere to the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies and Standards of Behavior, ensuring a high standard of care and professionalism.
