About the Role

This is a proposal request for a Network Engineer position at GovCIO. The successful candidate will be based in Washington, D.C. and will work on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather information on the capabilities of GovCIO products and investigate the technical capabilities of competing equipment and solutions.

• Stay up-to-date with developments in hardware and software and generate quantifiable requirements based on customer descriptions, system planning, and design.

• Ensure requirements comply through formal verification methods and translate high-level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications.

• Work with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements and establish and coordinate development of standards, practices, and procedures related to network and system development.

• Design interfaces and bring network and system elements together to ensure they work as a whole.

• Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.

• Provide customer liaison and support for business development activities and understand and shape requirements.

Key Tasks

  • Coordinate the planning, design, and installation of equipment using knowledge of engineering and programming as well as sophisticated instruments and computers.
  • Participate in system conceptual design and documentation of design concepts.
  • Install all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
  • Design, create, and build network services, equipment, and devices.
  • Generate system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
  • Monitor system performance and implement performance tuning.
  • Review test plans/procedures and ensure they meet the objectives of contractual requirements and participate in the testing process to validate requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of experience (or commensurate experience)

• Required Experience:

• Leading design, configuration, upgrading, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching of data network hardware and software including but not limited to Cisco Routers, Firewalls, Switches, Thousand Eyes, DNAC (Cisco DNA Center), Stealthwatch (Cisco Secure Analytics), Identity Service Engine (ISE).

• CCNP (Cisco Certified Networking Professional)

• ITIL 4+ Foundation
