Job Overview:

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer plays a crucial role in the planning, design, configuration, implementation, testing, and transition to steady-state support of infrastructure components, including networking, telecommunications, servers, storage, and software across the organization. This position requires collaboration with peer engineering teams to establish best practices, processes, standards, and configuration management. The engineer will assess vendor-supplied hardware, software, and components for compatibility and performance, providing recommendations to IT management. This role demands the ability to modify and troubleshoot vendor-supplied utilities and packages, maintain technical documentation, diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, and offer escalation support to administrators. A solutions-oriented mindset is essential to ensure stability, security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Duties:
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Mentor and guide fellow team members.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend network-related software and hardware solutions.
  • Conduct capacity and resource planning for network systems.
  • Identify network risks and develop contingency strategies.
  • Provide insights for supplier management and vendor service agreements related to telecommunications and networking.
  • Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications and network systems (both hardware and software).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical communications and network issues (Tier 2 support).
  • Stay informed about advancements in telecommunications, networks, and related technologies.
  • Act as a technical resource for infrastructure initiatives requiring expertise in telecommunications or networking.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Technical degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in an Infrastructure or technical role.
  • Experience in telecommunications and networking environments, security, storage, server, and other infrastructure technologies.
  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts.

Skills:

  • Design, implementation, configuration, tuning, and optimization of infrastructure technologies.
  • Problem-solving abilities with a creative approach.
  • Capability to create, read, analyze, and interpret technical diagrams and documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration across various functional areas.
  • Attention to detail and comprehensive thinking.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in an Infrastructure engineering capacity.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.

Specialized Skills and Technologies:

  • Experience with telecommunications and networking environments.
  • Understanding of hardware and software dependencies.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members.
