About the Role

As a Distribution Planning Consultant at Burns & McDonnell, you will play a key role in improving grid performance and preparing for future challenges. Our team is looking for an experienced professional to utilize their knowledge in electrical distribution planning and application of grid technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform various studies and consulting services to help clients make informed decisions backed by business and engineering analysis.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of operational technologies and grid device integration, ensuring client needs are met.
  • Develop models within distribution planning software, including CYME, Synergi, Windmil, SKM, ETAP, and equivalent.
  • Evaluate system performance, simulate power flows, and develop solutions and upgrades of electric distribution facilities.
  • Analyze life-cycle costs, incorporating technical assumptions regarding capital costs, operation and maintenance costs, performance estimates, and economic assumptions and forecasts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or related degree and 3 years of related experience, or master's degree in engineering or business and 2 years of experience.
  • Prior experience associated with electric utility operations, planning, or consulting.
  • Experience with distribution planning software and evaluating system performance, simulation of power flows, and developing solutions and upgrades of electric distribution facilities.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
