Eligibility

Key Responsibilities
You will:
1. Assess radiation survey data to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with established radiation safety standards.
2. Support inspections and monitoring of operations conducted by other entities to verify adherence to safety regulations set forth by the organization and relevant authorities.
3. Conduct analyses to ascertain radionuclide presence and quantity in various samples, including environmental and biological materials.
4. Identify trends or issues that may impact dosimetry accuracy and recommend corrective actions based on thorough evaluations.
5. Prepare and review reports detailing investigations, analyses, and surveys, providing assessments, conclusions, and recommendations for program modifications to meet the objectives of the Radiation Health Division.

Employment Conditions
To qualify for this position, candidates must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen.
- Meet suitability requirements for federal employment.
- Enroll in the direct deposit pay program.
- Successfully complete the E-Verify employment verification process.
- Males born after a certain date must be registered for Selective Service.
- This position may require a pre-appointment physical examination and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Work Environment
Work may occur in settings where exposure to hazardous physical and chemical agents is possible. Personal protective equipment, such as helmets, gloves, and respirators, will be mandatory during work hours. Participation in medical surveillance programs may also be required.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following educational requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in natural science or engineering, including at least 30 semester hours in relevant fields such as health physics, radiological science, or chemistry.
- Alternatively, a combination of education and experience that meets the standards set by the Office of Personnel Management.

This position is part of the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program, and multiple vacancies may be filled. A tentative job offer may be rescinded if the selected candidate fails to meet pre-employment requirements.
