We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The successful candidate will have a strong background in neuroscience, cellular molecular biology, or a related field, and will be responsible for conducting advanced research in the laboratory of Hiroki Taniguchi Ph.D.
Research FocusThe primary focus of this research position is to investigate the molecular, cellular, and circuit mechanisms underlying cortical regulation of pain sensation in both physiological and pathological states. This includes understanding the role of cortical inhibitory circuits in pain sensation and employing mouse genetics, molecular biology, virology, genomics, imaging techniques, and behavioral analysis to address these questions.
Responsibilities- Design, execute, and analyze experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab
- Perform advanced molecular biology and cellular techniques, including cell culture, viral production, tissue harvest, and microscopy
- Conduct two-photon imaging and/or behavioral analysis with small animal surgery (mice)
- Collect and analyze data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and institutions
- Develop and troubleshoot new experimental techniques and protocols
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and support technical writing
- Participate in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding
A doctoral degree in neuroscience or cellular molecular biology is required. The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record, experimental skills, and experience in mouse genetics, mouse behavior, two-photon imaging, RNA-sequencing/analysis, and cancer biology.
