Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Veterinarian Lead to join our team at Petco Total Care. As a key member of our hospital team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, leading by example, and contributing to a positive and productive work environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pets and their owners.

Responsibilities
This position involves various responsibilities, including:
• Providing excellent patient care through physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and offering preventive care tailored to each patient's needs.
• Utilizing problem-based approaches to develop comprehensive diagnostic plans and treatments based on test results and confirmed diagnoses.
• Documenting patient observations, findings, treatments, and interactions in medical records according to practice convention.
• Performing routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory surgeries, mass removals, and dental procedures.
• Developing treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and communicating effectively with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have:
• A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school or equivalent experience.
• Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or the ability to obtain it by the start date.
• Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License (if applicable) in the state where the hospital is located or the ability to obtain them by the start date.
• USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as compassion and sympathy when interacting with clients and their pets.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, learn new techniques, and adapt to changing situations.

Work Environment
This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where flexibility and adaptability are essential. The majority of job duties take place in the Vetco Total Care veterinary full-service hospital. You can expect to spend a significant amount of time directly interacting with clients and their pets, which may involve bending, kneeling, lifting, and standing for extended periods.

Compensation and Benefits
The estimated annual salary range for this position is $86,580 - $184,080. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and financial benefits, 401K, incentives, and paid time off.
