Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Sterile Processing Tech to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our Central Processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and sterility in our medical and surgical supplies and instruments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean, high-level disinfect/sterilize, and package medical and surgical instrument trays and inventories
  • Assemble baskets of instruments, basin sets, and equipment using appropriate checklists and prepare for sterilization
  • Decontaminate, disinfect, and thoroughly clean supplies, instruments, and equipment used in various procedures
  • Distribute instruments, equipment, and supplies to appropriate locations
  • Monitor and maintain adequate levels of supplies, instruments, and equipment
  • Monitor equipment for malfunctions and notify appropriate staff of need for major repairs
  • Demonstrate knowledge of instrument and equipment IFUs and process instruments and interact with equipment according to manufacturer guidelines
  • Technical - demonstrate proficiency in reprocessing and maintenance of endoscopes and other endoscopic equipment per high-level disinfection (HLD) policy and manufacturer instructions (IFU)

Requirements:

  • Two years of sterile processing experience and certification in sterile processing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
