Job Summary

Con Edison is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on company vehicles and equipment.

Required Education/Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant work experience or a relevant automotive certificate from a post-secondary vocational school in Auto Mechanics/Automotive Technology (or related field) or
  • An associate's degree in Auto Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or a related field

Relevant Work Experience

  • Hands-on experience repairing drive trains, hydraulics, and coolant systems is required
  • ASE certifications in Engine Repair, Electrical, and Brakes or equivalent industry/major manufacturer's certifications are preferred

Licenses And Certifications

  • A valid driver's license is required
  • A Certificate of Fitness from the FDNY and a NYS DMV Inspector's License are also required
  • A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class A is required within 1 year

Physical Demands

  • Perform heavy manual labor, including pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50lbs
  • Work in, under, and on top of all types of company vehicles and/or equipment
  • Ability to wear and use a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays

Additional Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers
