Delivers both routine and intricate care, adhering to established patient treatment protocols. Continues to enhance the capability to manage and navigate the complexities of clinical nursing. Appropriately assigns tasks and delegates responsibilities to other healthcare providers to effectively oversee the clinical situation.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels is a comprehensive healthcare facility that is continually evolving to address the growing healthcare demands of the community.

Utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and methodologies, including an Outpatient Imaging Center, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, a modernized birthing center with 24/7 neonatal support, emergency services, wound care/hyperbaric therapy, 3D mammography, and extensive cardiac care, ranging from diagnostics to open-heart procedures.

  • In alignment with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for designated patients.
  • Addresses the increasingly intricate psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families in accordance with their level of expertise.
  • Administers medications and treatments following established protocols; monitors for side effects and the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
  • Records patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Evaluates learning requirements and offers education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and available resources.

Core Competencies:

  • Employs critical thinking to assess the fundamental physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families.
  • Communicates findings to relevant healthcare team members.
  • Develops and implements a tailored plan of care, modifying it to meet individual patient needs based on evidence-based practices.
  • Executes patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitors and documents the progress of treatment and educational objectives.
  • Evaluates the care and treatments administered to patients and their responses.
  • Conducts timely reassessments and documentation.
  • Must be proficient in unit-specific competencies based on the unique patient care requirements for the designated unit's patient demographic.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of combined experience in Medsurg and Telemetry is required, with 5 years preferred. BLS certification is mandatory. ACLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire. A valid RN License in the state of employment or compact is required. PALS certification is required within 30 days of hire. De-escalation training must be completed within 30 days of hire.
