About the Position

The City of Maple Grove, MN is seeking a skilled Lifeguard to join our team. As a Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe swimming environment for our patrons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe environment for all patrons and staff.
  • Familiarize yourself with the pool layout and location of all safety equipment.
  • Enforce pool rules at all times.
  • Administer first aid and complete necessary paperwork for any incident.
  • Respond efficiently in emergency situations.
  • Report for duty in proper uniform.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with employees and the public.
  • Stay at the assigned station, maintaining steadfast alertness while guarding.
  • Observe participants in the pool area, requiring close supervision.
  • Report any missing safety equipment or replacement equipment needed to the supervisor.
  • Participate in staff training as requested.
  • Ability to make quick, sound decisions using judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Must be 15 years of age or older.
  • Must possess current Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification or have the ability to complete the above certification course successfully.
  • Must be able to perform Lifeguard Training pre-course skill requirements at regularly scheduled in-service training.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
  • Proficient swimmer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lifeguard Training Instructor certificate.
  • Advanced First Aid Training, such as First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician.
  • Previous lifeguard experience.
