Position Title: Student Success Consultant
Employment Type: Full-time, exempt, Non-Instructional Academic Staff
Reports To: The Student Success Consultant will report to the Assistant Director of Academic Advising.
Compensation: Starting at $40,000
Student Success Consultants deliver exceptional academic guidance and career development support to students, including those transferring to the university and prospective students. They assist individuals in their transition to the university, evaluate academic competencies, explore educational and career pathways, and collaborate with students to create personalized plans for academic achievement. The Student Success Consultant works closely with designated academic departments, fostering partnerships with faculty and staff to effectively support students pursuing degrees in their area of expertise. They play a crucial role in promoting an inclusive and engaged campus environment that supports academic excellence, student retention, and program completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handles, processes, and addresses academic inquiries in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Acts as a primary contact for students, providing information on educational opportunities and academic requirements; assists in identifying and evaluating interests, skills, and values to align with suitable fields of study and career options, and refers students to relevant institutional resources.
- Ensures confidentiality and maintains accurate student records while responding to academic inquiries in compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
- Maintains proficiency in the advised curriculum and may assist in formulating and recommending exceptions to policies and curricula.
- Proactively engages with students as necessary.
- Participates in the broader advising community on campus, contributing insights to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co-curricular programs.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will minimally possess the following qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- One or more years of professional experience in advising, teaching, counseling, or a related field.
Salary and Benefits:
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System offers a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
