Job Summary

The Auto Body Painter is responsible for preparing metal, plastic, and other surfaces on automotive equipment for painting and applying base coat and clear coat. Refinished vehicles must meet CollisionRight's specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by masking glass, trim, and other parts not to be painted.
  • Clean, sand, and prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Apply primer, base coats, and clear coat using waterborne or solvent base paint systems.
  • Paint automotive accessories.
  • Assist with body work required to prepare motor vehicles for painting.
  • Work with unpleasant or toxic fumes and materials while wearing safety and personal protective equipment.
  • Mix and match paints.
  • Buff and sand finished products as needed.
  • Clean and maintain spray guns and other painting equipment.
  • Inspect painted vehicles to ensure quality of work meets standards.
Requirements
  • Solid working knowledge of painting automotive equipment processes, techniques, and materials.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience working in Auto Body painting.
  • Thorough knowledge of preparing automotive equipment for painting.
  • Talent and skill in using spray guns and other auto painting equipment.
  • Ability to mix and match paints.
  • Good eyesight and color perception.
  • Past experience and knowledge of caring for and maintaining spray guns and other auto painting equipment and materials.
  • Demonstration of safety precautions required in performing the work.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Physical ability to perform average lifting up to 35 pounds and occasionally over 70 pounds.
  • Demonstrated agility, equilibrium, and coordination for climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing under precarious conditions.
  • Strong arm, hand, and finger dexterity with physical capacity to reach, handle, finger, and feel.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
