Job Description and Duties

The Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Park and Recreation Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary

The Park and Recreation Specialist will be responsible for overseeing major district program administration, including community engagement, visitor services, partnerships, real property management, district planning and coordination, long-range planning, special event permits, and film permits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies to promote park and recreation programs and services.
  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors and stakeholders, ensuring a positive experience at our parks and recreation facilities.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community groups to support park and recreation initiatives.
  • Manage real property, including leasing and licensing agreements, to ensure efficient use of park and recreation resources.
  • Develop and implement district plans and coordination strategies to ensure effective use of park and recreation resources.
  • Conduct long-range planning to identify and address park and recreation needs and opportunities.
  • Process special event permits and film permits to ensure compliance with park and recreation regulations.
Requirements
  • Valid California Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Background Investigation clearance required prior to hire.
Working Conditions

The Park and Recreation Specialist will work in an office environment with frequent use of personal computer and office software applications. The position may require occasional travel and may involve some exposure to aggressive visitors.
