This role involves:
  • Conducting inspections as mandated by ASME and NBIC Codes.

Travel to support operations at adjacent nuclear facilities may also be required.

Education and Qualifications:
  • Essential: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred:
    • Completion of an accredited military training program focused on boilers, pressure vessels, or nuclear reactors.
    • Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably in a Mechanical discipline.
    • Graduation from an accredited technical institution.
    • Certification in Power Engineering.
    • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship in boilermaking, pipefitting, or steamfitting.
    • AWS CWI certification.
    • API-510 or API-570 certification.

Experience:
  • Required: Minimum of one year of relevant experience, with a maximum of four years based on educational background.
    • Experience in operating high-pressure boiler steam plants exceeding 50,000 lbs/hr.
    • Involvement in repairs, modifications, or maintenance of boilers or pressure vessels.
    • Experience as an NDE examiner (ASNT Level II or III).
    • Experience in the manufacturing, inspection, or maintenance of boilers or pressure vessels.
  • Preferred: Up to four years of experience in the aforementioned areas.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Technical:
    • Proficient understanding of ASME Code and NBIC.
    • Familiarity with welding processes and non-destructive examination techniques.
    • Possession of National Board AI Commission, ideally with N and I endorsements.
  • Non-Technical:
    • Strong planning and organizational abilities.
    • Self-driven with the capacity to work independently and adapt to changing circumstances.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Customer service-oriented with a talent for cultivating strong client relationships.
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Proficient problem-solving abilities.
    • Competence in computer technology, including the Microsoft Office Suite.

Security Clearance:
Must successfully pass a thorough background check to gain access to nuclear power facilities.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to navigate and inspect facilities, including ascending and descending structures.
  • Willingness to work in varying outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
  • Capability to lift personal body weight while utilizing safety equipment.
  • Ability to maintain a stationary position for 50% of the time.
