Role Responsibilities

Transportation Engineer I

Salary Grade - B24

As a Transportation Engineer I, you will engage in bridge and structural engineering tasks within the Bridge Division. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Addressing technical inquiries related to bridge inspections and maintaining inspection records.
  • Assisting in the structural review of complex construction details.
  • Supporting the development of specifications for specialized bridge design projects.
  • Conducting inspections of structures for potential damage or construction issues.
  • Performing engineering design tasks, including layouts and specifications.
Transportation Engineer II

Salary Grade - B25

In this role, you will undertake more complex engineering tasks, including:
  • Providing assistance to districts on bridge inspection matters.
  • Overseeing bridge construction inspection activities.
  • Conducting detailed structural analyses of bridge designs.
Transportation Engineer III

Salary Grade - B26

As a Transportation Engineer III, you will handle advanced engineering challenges, such as:
  • Performing intricate structural analyses and resolving contractor disputes.
Transportation Engineer IV

Salary Grade - B27

In this senior role, you will be responsible for:
  • Developing and reviewing engineering documents and remediation plans.
  • Prioritizing bridge rehabilitation and repair projects.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field.
Experience: Varies by level, with increasing years of relevant engineering experience required for higher positions.
Licenses: Valid driver's license and, for certain levels, a Professional Engineer license is required.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform medium work, including lifting up to 50 lbs and engaging in various physical activities.

Conditions of Employment:

This position requires passing a pre-employment physical and drug test.
