Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cyclotron Operations Specialist to join our team at SOFIE. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and routine operation, maintenance, and repair of particle accelerators in our PET radiopharmacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Cyclotrons: Safely and efficiently operate cyclotrons according to proper operating procedures, including night shifts and weekend shifts as required.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine, non-routine, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on cyclotrons, including diagnosis and repair of electronic equipment, electro-pneumatic systems, high vacuum systems, and high-power RF systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete documentation related to cyclotron operations, including preventative maintenance, repair, and audit logs.
  • Accelerator Maintenance: Plan and execute accelerator maintenance activities on a schedule determined by the Technical Services management team.
  • Equipment Support: Provide timely information to supervisors regarding equipment operation and status, and maintain and repair all PET manufacturing equipment at the facility.
  • Radiation Safety: Perform radiation safety duties to ensure compliance with all regulations under the Corporate and site RSO.
  • Equipment Design and Development: Design and build equipment to improve operational reliability for cyclotron and isotope manufacturing.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with all procedures and regulations within the site under the Quality Assurance program.
  • Training and Development: Provide technical training and support to other employees, and develop standardized operating procedures or work instructions for Cyclotron-Support Engineers.
  • Performance Monitoring: Perform trend analysis and tracking of cyclotron performance data.
  • On-Call Support: Provide after-hours on-call support to the site as needed.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of cyclotron experience or an Associate Degree in a Technical Discipline required.
  • IBA Experience: Experience on IBA cyclotron systems preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of digital and analog circuitry required, ability to troubleshoot electronics down to the component level preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, ability to be detail-oriented, and dependability required.
  • Travel: Up to 20% travel required.
