The Blue Seal Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of high pressure boilers. This involves controlling the generation of continuous supply of all steam and hot water and ensuring the operation of chiller and cooling tower.

Job Summary

This is a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of high pressure boilers at Hackensack Meridian Health. The successful candidate will have a strong background in operating high pressure boilers and a current High Pressure New Jersey Blue Seal Engineer certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient flow of work and report any anomalies to department management.
  • Maintain optimal pressure and work levels, anticipating variations in steam load according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Clean and repair equipment daily, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform regular boiler water tests and add necessary treatment chemicals according to chemical company recommendations.
  • Advise the supervisor of emergency situations or difficulties.
  • Conduct daily visual checks of vacuum pumps and maintain records.
  • Operate air conditioning chillers during peak seasons, adding chemical treatment to water towers as scheduled.
  • Maintain accurate records of pressure readings on fire sprinkler gauges.
  • Record operating data according to department policies and procedures.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by maintaining a clean workspace and following safety protocols.
  • Perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and external vendors.
  • Schedule annual boiler shutdowns and routine maintenance work orders.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, contributing to improved patient satisfaction scores.
  • Maintain the operation of emergency generators and fire pumps during emergencies.
  • Clean, paint, and maintain equipment as needed.
  • Wear PPE when handling chemicals.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Foster teamwork and a focus on work-related tasks.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and competencies.
  • Operate various equipment, including high pressure boilers, chillers, vacuum pumps, generators, and more.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience operating high pressure boilers.
  • Current High Pressure New Jersey Blue Seal Engineer certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
