Prototype Machinist

We are seeking a highly skilled Prototype Machinist to join our team at NanoMosaic Inc. as a key member of our prototype shop operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for running our shop operations, creating parts, components, fixtures, tooling, and other machined or 3D printed components.

• Design and Fabrication: Interpret shop drawings and convert them into physical components, utilizing manual and CNC-based machining practices.
• Machining Expertise: Possess extensive knowledge of manual and CNC-based machining practices, including best tooling choice and feeds and speeds.
• Setup and Fixturing: Measure and mark setup and fixturing of materials and equipment, ensuring accurate and efficient production.
• Safety and Quality: Manage the safe operation of all equipment in the prototype shop area, inspecting in-process and finished parts for flaws and defects.
• Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with design teams to ensure manufacturability of parts, and notify them of any issues that arise during manufacturing.
• Maintenance and Training: Maintain equipment located throughout the machine shop, supervise and train shop users, and create best practice guidelines.

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, with a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience: 5 or more years of experience in an additive or traditional shop setting.
• Skills and Knowledge: Adept with CNC equipment and CAM software, ability to design simple 3-dimensional components in CAD, and proficiency in operating grinders, lathes, and milling machines.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 to 75 pounds at a time.
