The Quincy Columbia Basin Irrigation District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Irrigation Water Delivery Specialist/Canal Maintenance Technician to join our team. This full-time, year-round position is responsible for the timely delivery and regulation of irrigation water to water-users on an assigned route and will also perform canal maintenance tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and regulate irrigation water to water-users on an assigned route
  • Perform canal maintenance tasks as assigned, including repairs and maintenance of irrigation infrastructure
  • Operate heavy equipment and tools, including trucks, tractors, and pumps
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with water-users and other stakeholders
  • Keep accurate records of water deliveries and maintenance activities

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Washington State driver's license with insurable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) required
  • Class A CDL License with Hazardous Material & Tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 270 calendar days of employment
  • Public Pesticide License w/ Right-of-Way & Aquatic Irrigation endorsements or ability to obtain within 270 calendar days of employment
  • Ability to work Monday-Saturday during the water season (March-October)

Desirable Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to develop good relationships with the public and co-workers
  • Basic working knowledge of carpentry/construction principles and of water systems
  • Ability to operate tools and heavy equipment
  • Ability to keep accurate records

Compensation:

The Quincy Columbia Basin Irrigation District offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical/dental/vision, basic life, AD&D, and long-term disability insurance, paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, WA State Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), deferred compensation match, and seasonal commute in District vehicle fringe benefit for employees assigned a ditchride during the water season.
