Job Summary

The Medical Assistant/X-Ray Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support services in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Triage patients by injury or illness, and provide basic care as needed.
  • Escort patients to exam/procedure rooms, and assist with walking, transfers, and dressing as required.
  • Collect patient history, including current medications, allergies, and symptoms.
  • Provide patient care as directed by the provider, including screenings and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Assist providers with various procedures, and document patient charts and relaying information & instructions to patient/family.
  • Answer patient phone calls & messages, and act as a communication liaison between the patient and provider.
  • Collect and handle lab specimens, and adhere to infection control safety guidelines.
  • Perform diagnostic x-ray with minimal exposure to self or patients, and correctly identify patient prior to exam.
Requirements
  • Minimum of High School or GED required.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant or practical nursing training program with documented clinical practicum hours; OR Medical Assistant certification; OR a minimum of one-year experience in medical office setting as a Medical Assistant or like role.
  • Current Florida Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BMO) License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Verified ability to take accurate patient vital signs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively articulate and explain required information to patients.
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
