The successful candidate will be tasked with establishing and enforcing objective standards of care and conduct for patient care practitioners, ensuring compliance with all legal obligations and patient rights as outlined by relevant health regulations. This includes adherence to the standards, practices, policies, and procedures set forth by the Hospital and other regulatory bodies.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties:
The candidate will fulfill the responsibilities typically associated with a faculty member and oncologist in a teaching hospital, which may encompass:
- Conducting one four-hour outpatient session weekly at designated locations.
- Providing on-call services as required.
- Enhancing community awareness regarding the quality and range of services offered.
Administrative Responsibilities:
In addition to clinical duties, the candidate will provide administrative and supervisory support as directed by the Chief of Hematology & Oncology. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting initiatives aimed at increasing community physician engagement and promoting available services.
- Exhibiting leadership in care delivery aligned with quality initiatives, particularly the Quality Incentive Programs.
- Overseeing general administrative functions and supervising professional and technical staff.
- Ensuring timely completion of all reporting and compliance obligations, including medical record reviews and coding queries.
- Maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies established by governing agencies.
Educational Contributions:
- Actively engaging in the education and management of fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Ensuring the Hospital's accreditation from relevant educational bodies.
- Updating evaluation processes for resident performance and leading regular assessments.
- Participating in research and scholarly activities to enhance the academic standing of the program.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology.
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.
- Current medical license to practice in the State of New York.
