Occupational Therapist

This job description outlines the essential functions of the Occupational Therapist role at North Shore Healthcare.
QualificationsTo be successful in this position, you must hold a current OT license in the state where you will be working. If one state is missing, we can allow a time period for the missing state application process.
Essential Functions- Provide occupational therapy services as prescribed by a physician and evaluate the patient's level of function by applying diagnostic and prognostic procedures.
- Develop the patient's plan of care for occupational therapy services and deliver services in accordance with the approved plan of treatment and plan of care.
- Guide the patient in their use of therapeutic, creative, and self-care activities to improve function.
- Document observations and activities in compliance with agency policy and notify the patient care manager and physician immediately if there is a change in the patient's physical or emotional status.
- Conduct in-service programs relative to occupational therapy role and treatment program to agency personnel as needed.
- Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants.
- Instruct the patient, family members, and other health team personnel in certain phases of occupational therapy which they may use to work with the patient.
- Use activities and home exercise programs to improve range of motion, muscle strength, and coordination through passive/active exercise and/or activity.
- Participate in case conferences and meetings as needed.
- Maintain required in-service training per calendar year and attend/complete mandatory iServices.
