This role presents an exceptional opportunity to engage in a dynamic academic setting and contribute to a highly regarded children's hospital. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine is in search of a Pediatric Cardiologist with specialized knowledge in heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, pre- and post-transplant care, and ventricular assist device (VAD) management, as well as cardiac transplantation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
The Heart Failure Program consists of a collaborative team of faculty, advanced practice providers, and pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons. The Pediatric Cardiologist will deliver specialized care to both inpatients and outpatients suffering from cardiomyopathy, heart failure linked to either cardiomyopathy or congenital heart defects, and those undergoing heart transplantation. Team members are expected to participate in general cardiology night and weekend call rotations. Responsibilities also include involvement in general cardiology outpatient clinics and inpatient services, alongside specific duties in their areas of expertise. Clinical responsibilities may extend to outreach clinic settings. Care will be provided at Primary Children's Hospital and affiliated outreach locations. Alongside clinical duties, there is a strong emphasis on academic contributions, including education, research, and administrative responsibilities, with dedicated time allocated for these pursuits supported by a robust mentoring framework.
Since its inception in 1991, the heart failure and transplant program has experienced consistent growth, performing numerous transplants and VADs annually, surpassing national survival benchmarks. The program also features an integrated Fontan/heart failure initiative.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology, with specialized training in heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and transplantation. A fourth year of additional training in pediatric heart failure is essential. The selected individual will be appointed as faculty in the Department of Pediatrics on either the Clinical or Tenure Track, commensurate with their experience and qualifications.
The Department and University provide a competitive salary and an exceptional benefits package, including non-contributory retirement contributions of 20.2% of annual salary that vest immediately.
