Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Exercise Instructor to join our team at the YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge. As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will be responsible for leading high-energy fitness classes that promote physical activity and well-being for our members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead group exercise classes, including yoga, barre, and power sculpt, to a diverse group of members.
  • Assist members with proper use of exercise equipment and provide sound health and fitness training and advice.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings to stay up-to-date on the latest safety information and research in the fitness industry.
  • Provide a safe and clean environment for members to exercise, including maintaining current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Collaborate with the Wellness Director to develop and implement fitness class programming that meets the needs of our members.
Requirements
  • Experience teaching group exercise classes, preferably in a YMCA setting.
  • Current nationally recognized group exercise certification and specialty class certification.
  • Ability to lead exercises while verbally cueing instructions and movement changes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with members and staff.
