Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Customer Service Representative to join our team at 125 Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation.

About the Role

This is a part-time position working 8.5 hour shifts, Monday through Friday, from 6:45 AM to 5:00 PM, with potential for additional hours as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and accurately register patients in the electronic medical record system, verifying essential billing and demographic information.
  • Coordinate scheduling of patient appointments, including phone and in-person requests, accurately and efficiently.
  • Answer multiple incoming telephone lines, determining the appropriate recipient of the call or message and referring them promptly and appropriately.
  • Distribute communications based on practice protocol, including pagers, faxes, and emails.
  • Resolve patient questions regarding HMO referrals, billing, and clinical information, referring complex issues to the practice manager or clinical staff as necessary.
  • Schedule future appointments and requisitions, laboratory tests, radiology procedures, and other diagnostic tests as needed, coordinating with hospital admission and outpatient admissions and surgery sections when required.
  • Notify patient care areas when patients have arrived and are ready to be seen, ensuring timely attention to waiting patients.
  • Accurately identify insurance types from patient cards, understand different payers, and verify eligibility if necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years of related customer service experience.
  • Experience handling difficult callers/customers/patients.
  • CRT/PC experience in a customer service setting.
  • Working knowledge of eClinicalWorks and scheduling sections of the eClinicalWorks system preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems posed by callers seeking referrals, appointments, billing issues, and clinical information.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $45,000 - $55,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
