Job Summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a highly skilled Plant Chemist to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for ensuring product quality and production efficiency while leading key process improvement projects and teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Manufacturing Hygiene program and ensure compliance to hygiene standards
  • Identify key areas of improvement and implement projects to improve product quality and production efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements
  • Develop and maintain local formulas in the formulation system
  • Ensure data is entered into the hygiene database to maintain compliance to hygiene monitoring standards
  • Provide support and guidance to lab technicians and support training of new employees
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field
  • At least one year of work experience in a quality control/assurance lab or R&D or completion of a Sherwin-Williams Development Program in a Quality or R&D function
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience working as a Plant Chemist
  • At least one year of experience working in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility
  • Prior work experience analyzing paint and coatings formulations and processes
  • Formal training in and/or experience applying continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
