Job Summary

The University of Central Oklahoma is seeking a highly qualified Program Director for its Dietetic Internship Program. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in dietetics, teaching, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage the Dietetic Internship Program, ensuring compliance with ACEND accreditation standards.
  • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate dietetic interns, providing guidance and support throughout their program.
  • Develop and implement curriculum, assessments, and evaluations to meet ACEND standards.
  • Coordinate placement and evaluation of dietetic interns, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with preceptors, sites, and other stakeholders to ensure a strong internship program.
  • Provide leadership and vision for the program, making strategic decisions to ensure its success.
  • Teach six to nine credit hours per semester, developing curriculum and assessments to meet ACEND standards.
  • Administer the application review process, ensuring the selection of high-quality interns.
  • Attend professional meetings to represent the program and stay current with industry developments.
  • Counsel with students throughout the program, providing guidance and support.
  • Coordinate the Portfolio Review/Evaluation process for each class, ensuring interns meet ACEND standards.
  • Develop and implement exam review courses to assist interns in meeting the registration examination for dietitians.
  • Oversee an application workshop to ensure the best interns are accepted into the program.
  • Enforce necessary curriculum and a system of assessment and evaluation of competency to meet ACEND standards.
  • Plan, organize, and train preceptors for onsite experiences for interns.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Credential as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Minimum of three years professional experience post-credentialing.
  • Full-time employee of the University of Central Oklahoma or a contracted organization.
  • No direct experience with another ACEND-accredited nutrition and dietetics education program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered dietitian, eligible for licensure in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Background in clinical dietetics and teaching experience in higher education.
  • Currently active in state and local dietetics associations and have relationships with Oklahoma City metropolitan area dietitians.
  • Experience with ACEND accreditation requirements and standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, human relations, public relations, networking, and organizational skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and interact professionally with all segments of the University community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to make policy and procedure decisions.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Capacity for growth and leadership.
