The American Rental Association is seeking a qualified Applications Engineer for our Power Systems Division. This role involves collaborating with consulting engineers and contractors to design intricate power system facilities and equipment, focusing on power quality solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Applications Engineer will operate under the guidance of a Senior Engineer, specializing in diesel and gas-powered electric systems for both emergency and prime power applications. Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating power requirements to ensure accurate electrical loading and sizing parameters.
- Conducting calculations for generator sizing, UPS devices, circuit breakers, cables, and disconnects.
- Preparing and interpreting technical drawings for construction and equipment installation.
- Writing and modifying specifications while interpreting contract documents.
- Providing training and support to new engineers.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical power systems.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect data and draw valid conclusions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-starter attitude, capable of working independently and managing priorities effectively.
Candidates must be able to:
- Stand or sit for extended periods.
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
