The Berks County Intermediate Unit is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a certified itinerant teacher, you will provide direct instruction to students with special education needs, focusing on academic skills, social skills, and coping skills.
Responsibilities:
Plan and implement effective instructional programs within Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Deliver instruction effectively and consistently at the levels of ability of the students.
Assess students' academic functioning levels and develop legally sound IEPs as needed.
Implement progress monitoring data collection tools for behavior, social, and academic goals.
Develop and maintain a safe, positive, and organized classroom environment.
Participate in team meetings for multidisciplinary evaluation, IEP, and behavioral planning.
Maintain accurate records and communication reports related to students.
Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania certification in Special Education PK-12 required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with youth and adults.
Minimum of five years of teaching experience preferred.
Ability to work with students of varying abilities and national origins in a positive and constructive manner.
