Casthouse Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Casthouse Employee to join our team at Flextrude. As a Casthouse Employee, you will be responsible for operating the forklift, cutting logs into billets, and applying knowledge of metal properties to meet industry specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate the forklift to move extruded aluminum throughout the Plant.
2. Cut logs into billets that supply the extrusion presses.
3. Apply knowledge of metal properties to meet industry specifications.
4. Read and interpret blueprints for metal in racks.
5. Complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
6. Monitor and control the age ovens.
7. Operate the billet saw.
8. Perform quality checks with tape measurer, Webster, and tools.
9. Visually identify defective material.
10. Maintain a constant flow of material.
11. Perform maintenance tasks as needed.
12. Responsible for housekeeping around the casthouse/age ovens area.

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, forklift experience preferred, ability to lift 50 pounds, perform tasks requiring repetitive motion, and stand for long periods.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
