Job Summary

Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. is seeking a Part-Time News Production Assistant to support our news team in various capacities. The ideal candidate will be able to work 20-30 hours weekly across a variety of shifts, including overnights, early mornings, and weekends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Script and Rundown Organization: Assist producers, assignment editors, and directors with daily newscast preparation by organizing news scripts and rundowns.
  • News Desk Support: Answer News Desk telephone inquiries and provide timely responses to viewers.
  • Research and Story Development: Conduct research and make story follow-up calls as directed by assignment editors, producers, and reporters.
  • Administrative Tasks: Sort and distribute mail, and staff the Viewer Information Line to retrieve and respond to voice-mail inquiries.
Requirements
  • Availability: Must be able to work 20-30 hours weekly across a variety of shifts, including overnights, early mornings, and weekends.
  • Education: Currently a junior or senior attending college, or recent college graduate with a concentration in broadcast or media journalism.
  • Technical Skills: Functional computer skills, Internet research skills, and exceptional telephone handling skills.
