Job Summary:

As a Structural Field Inspector at Universal Engineering Sciences, you will play a crucial role in supporting the structural engineering department. Your duties will include structural inspections, forensic inspections, drafting, design, and analysis. You will work in both field and office settings, ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy in your work.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform structural field inspections, including residential and commercial properties, with a goal of 3-4 daily inspections.
Conduct basic structural analysis calculations using both manual and software methods.
Prepare AutoCAD drafting of designs for residential homes, commercial buildings, retaining walls, and other structures.
Obtain purchase orders and work orders prior to starting work and release finalized work to clients.
Prepare field inspection reports and document daily field activity.
Maintain daily communication with site contractors, project managers, and accounting clerks.

Qualifications & Skills:

Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Required: 4-year Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

Preferred:

Focus in Structural or Geotechnical Engineering.

Preferred Professional Certifications:

Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain.
Knowledge of International Building and Residential Codes, ACI, ASCE-07.
Preferred completion of courses: Concrete Design I, Timber Design I, Steel Design I, Geotechnical Engineering I and II, and Retaining Wall Design.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Workdays are typically Monday-Friday, with occasional holiday, weekend, and overtime as needed.
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments.
Some work takes place in an office setting with moderate levels of noise.
Field work involves long-term standing, sitting, and potentially repetitive motions.
Ability to use senses to see, smell, hear, and touch, and to regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 100lbs.
