About the Role:

The Respiratory Care Practitioner will be responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department. This will involve performing diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, monitoring patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and assisting with the placement of artificial airways.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with the placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient response and notify providers as necessary.
  • Assist with the transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.

Requirements:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification.
  • Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or Vocational School Graduate.
