Job DescriptionCounty of Blair is seeking a Corrections Lieutenant to oversee department budget, employee relations, inmate control and custody, labor relations, operations, planning, policies/procedures, records retention, and staff scheduling and work assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regularly tour the facility to ensure compliance with department standards
- Maintain attendance and tardiness administration/documentation, and records retention
- Enforce County and facility policies and procedures with firmness, impartiality, and tact
- Review or perform staff scheduling, keeping subordinate staff well-informed
- Ensure work performed by subordinate staff and inmates is done satisfactorily
- Perform varied administrative tasks for the warden, deputy wardens, or customers
- Conduct or participate in investigations and disciplinary procedures
- Participate in hiring, coordinating periodic performance evaluations, firearms certification, and training
- Stay up-to-date in the corrections industry
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Five years' full-time corrections experience, with one year related supervisory experience
- Advanced knowledge of corrections methods, practices, principles, and techniques
- Computer literacy in e-mail, Internet, spreadsheet, and word processing applications
- Math abilities
- Interpersonal relations and communications skills
- Organizational skills
- Reliable transportation and/or a clean MVR
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
