Pharmacy Assistant

The Pharmacy Intern will assist the pharmacist in the efficient and accurate preparation, dispensing, and delivery of pharmaceuticals and supplies. This individual will be a pharmacy student and the specific duties and responsibilities of the intern's involvement are directly related to their academic standing or year of professional education.

• Reviews and interprets orders for inpatients and outpatients to ensure the appropriateness of dosage and to determine the significance of potential drug-drug interaction.
• Prepares and dispenses appropriate amounts of inpatients and outpatient medication.
• Conducts medication rounds and prepares IV additives using aseptic techniques.
• Monitors selected patients' therapy with pharmacokinetic analysis of therapeutic drug levels to ensure effective therapy.
• Participates in educational programs and projects designed to improve the clinical and operational components of the department.

• Actively enrolled in an accredited college/school of pharmacy and demonstrating progress to completing the program.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Intern license (both based on state requirements).
• AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS required if direct patient care responsibilities.

Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs. of force. Frequent standing and walking. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending. Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position.
