About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to join our team at Sherwin-Williams. As a Sales Representative, you will be responsible for achieving sales targets, building strong relationships with customers, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Achieve or exceed sales budget and margin contribution targets.
  • Maintain expenses at or below budget and increase gallon growth.
  • Collect reliable customer and territory information and estimate individual customer potential.
  • Conduct competitive product testing and comparisons to identify current competitors' strengths and weaknesses and Sherwin-Williams' competitive advantage.
  • Develop a territory market development plan and obtain approval.
  • Develop a strategy to sell target customers and identify items or product categories that require specific attention in support of this strategy.
  • Develop a weekly selling plan and conduct sales calls accordingly.
  • Determine where customers are in the overall selling process and what steps are necessary to move the process along.
  • Conduct product demos to support the selling process.
  • Obtain information necessary to open a new account and communicate to the credit office.
  • Access product and technical information to support customers' application requirements.
  • Complete required call and expense reports on a timely basis.
  • Identify sources of sales leads and follow through on leads provided by store personnel as appropriate.
  • Refer appropriate sales leads to Wood Sales Reps.
  • Understand servicing store strengths and weaknesses and communicate effectively with staff members to ensure that commitments made are within the store's capabilities.
  • Identify products and quantities that must be carried in inventory to support customer needs and communicate this to the store.
  • Identify potential problems and work with the Store Manager to resolve.
  • Handle customer complaints within lines of authority and manage the process to resolution.
  • Assist the Store Manager in resolution of product supply problems.
  • Conduct customer surveys.
  • Assist in servicing stores' physical inventory.
  • Service existing accounts to ensure continued loyalty.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to interface effectively with sales, technical, and manufacturing management.
  • Training and utilization of project management techniques, value selling, and six sigma tools.
  • Knowledge of the metal and plastic coatings market is preferred.
  • Ability to identify specific metal and plastic coatings users, knowledge of liquid and powder coatings used in this marketplace, and applications of these coatings as well as surface preparation used on these substrates.
Travel Requirements

50% or more travel is required for this role.
