About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our software organization, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating software solutions for our end-user customers and businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software applications in a simulated training environment
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including systems engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers, to develop and maintain complex software systems
  • Analyze system capabilities to resolve problems and improve software performance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and at least one programming or scripting language, such as C, C++, or Python
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Crucible, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Fortify, or Coverity
  • Active DoD Secret or higher clearance and ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of C and C++ languages, including templates, memory storage, and compiler/linker
  • Experience with or knowledge of Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), or High-Level Architecture (HLA)
  • Experience with Full-Motion Flight Training Systems and simulated threat environments
