Job Title: Direct Service Worker

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Service Worker to join our team at Advocates. As a Direct Service Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. Your primary responsibility will be to supervise the daily activities of program residents, providing ongoing support, guidance, and role modeling to help them achieve their goals and increase independence.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for residents, promoting recovery and treatment.
  • Provide intakes, treatment planning, case management, assessments, and one-to-one and/or group sessions for clients in the Deaf Respite.
  • Assist clients with daily living skills and needs, including medication management.
  • Facilitate treatment team and discharge meetings.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of managed care and health insurance systems.
  • Arrange transportation for individuals utilizing the Respite to appointments and other destinations.
  • Provide information on treatment and referral services.
  • Maintain necessary documentation, statistics, and clinical records.
  • Determine the most appropriate response to clients in crisis in collaboration with the team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma/GED and one year of related experience.
  • Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Ability to develop and maintain satisfactory working relationships with consumers and community providers.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High energy level, superior interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license, have access to an operational and insured vehicle, and be willing to use it to transport clients.
