Job Overview

Sigma Design is seeking an experienced Polymer Synthesis and Compounding Engineer to join their team in Redmond, WA. This contract position offers a 12-month duration with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and synthesize new polymer materials for next-generation human-computer interaction technologies.
  • Develop efficient processes for scale-up and manufacturing of novel polymers.
  • Collaborate with polymer researcher scientists and materials engineers on new formulation design.
  • Work with process engineers and testing engineers to build structure-process-properties relationship understanding.
Requirements
  • MS in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in small molecule synthesis, synthetic organic chemistry, and polymer synthesis.
  • Strong analytical skills, including NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis, Mass Spec, GC/HPLC, GPC, etc.
  • Understanding of polymer structure-process-property relationships.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with carbon-carbon bond coupling reaction, C-H activation, and other advanced polymer manufacturing technologies.
  • Hands-on experience in polymer formulation, compounding, and molding.
Work Environment

Standard lab/production environment with occasional travel to other facilities, clients, or suppliers.
