Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to fill a CT Technologist position in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Estimated Salary: $120,000ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate will possess excellent patient care skills, knowledge of computed tomography (CT) scanning procedures, and strong communication abilities. Key responsibilities include:
- Patient Preparation and Communication:
- Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure, addressing concerns, and ensuring they are comfortable.
- Verify patient information, including medical history and allergies, to ensure accurate diagnosis and proper imaging protocols.
- Position patients properly on the CT table to obtain high-quality images while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
- Instruct patients on how to hold their breath or remain still during scans as required by the procedure.
- Operation of CT Equipment:
- Operate and calibrate the CT scanner to ensure proper settings for each scan, including radiation dose and imaging protocols.
- Administer contrast agents or dye injections under physician guidance to enhance image clarity during certain CT procedures.
- Monitor the equipment during imaging to ensure high-quality images are captured and that no errors occur during the process.
- Image Quality and Review:
- Review CT images for quality, ensuring all required areas are captured and meet diagnostic standards.
- Collaborate with radiologists to ensure images are of sufficient quality to support diagnosis.
- Repeat or adjust scans as necessary to improve image quality or ensure comprehensive imaging coverage.
- Patient Safety and Comfort:
- Foster a safe and clean environment in the CT room, adhering to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure.
- Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent injury or discomfort during the scan.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to contrast agents and alert the physician if necessary.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to determine appropriate imaging procedures.
- Document patient information, scan parameters, and any complications in the electronic health record.
- Participate in patient care planning, discussing imaging approaches in complex cases.
- Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Maintain, clean, and perform basic troubleshooting on the CT scanner and associated equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and calibration of CT equipment, reporting any malfunctions to maintenance staff.
- Keep accurate logs of equipment use and maintenance.
- Radiation Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols to protect both patients and staff.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, including radiation safety and procedural guidelines.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Accurately document imaging procedures, patient information, and any adverse events or changes in patient status.
- Comply with hospital policies, medical record-keeping regulations, and industry standards.
- Support efficient patient flow by providing quick turnaround times for imaging results.
- Patient Education and Support:
- Provide education and guidance to patients regarding aftercare following contrast injections and potential side effects.
- Address patient concerns about the procedure and offer support as needed.
- Maintain patient privacy and dignity throughout the imaging process.
- Professional Development and Training:
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in CT imaging technology and safety procedures.
- Attend in-house training sessions and seminars on new imaging techniques or equipment.
- Maintain professional certification and licensure, meeting continuing education requirements.
