This position is responsible for enrolling and completing the Paragon training program, a 15-week virtual learning experience that educates students on the fundamentals of bathing and grooming, while also providing basic skills in safety, pet first aid, and CPR.

The Grooming Technician in Training will be guided through a combination of hands-on practice, book work, online exams, and video watching, with the goal of achieving proficiency in bathing, drying, brushing, and combing all coat types, as well as nail trimming, ear cleaning, and basic clipper techniques.

• Enroll and complete the Paragon training program within the required timeline
• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of pet behavior, body language, and safety protocols
• Assist in generating business by calling existing and new customers, scheduling appointments, and verifying vaccinations
• Maintain accurate records of pet clients, including services provided and vaccination records
• Operate computer systems, cash registers, and other store equipment as needed

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to work with dogs and cats, demonstrating patience and compassion
• Must provide own tools (clippers, blades, shears) or be willing to purchase required tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to read, write, and count accurately
• Ability to work varied hours, including days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs

The working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise. Exposure to sharp grooming instruments, perfumed shampoos and soaps, pets, and pet waste is possible. Ability to move and transfer live animals, equipment, and merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
