POSITION SUMMARY :
Under general oversight, designs and executes a curriculum framework aligned with educational objectives of the District.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

DUTIES :

Monitors and manages student behavior across various settings including classrooms, playgrounds, field trips, lunchrooms, libraries, school transportation, and other environments; fosters a classroom climate that ensures emotional and physical safety, promoting respect, self-worth, self-discipline, cooperation, consideration, and accountability; assesses student requirements and develops, implements, and evaluates daily lesson plans tailored to include scheduled activities and resources.

Adapts instructional strategies to cater to the diverse needs of each student; organizes and displays classroom materials, space, and time in a manner conducive to curricular activities; employs classroom management techniques to maintain organization, safety, and a productive learning atmosphere.

Utilizes positive reinforcement to enhance desired behaviors and educational outcomes; plans instructional activities to meet specific objectives based on student needs and established curriculum.

Implements teaching strategies to inspire and engage students.

Assesses written materials including assignments and tests; analyzes and evaluates student progress and curriculum effectiveness; reviews student performance regarding achievements in curriculum and activities, making necessary adjustments to meet learning needs; ensures communication with parents regarding evaluation methods used in the classroom; updates parents on student progress; advises parents on instructional methods that may support student learning; informs parents of school events; collaborates as part of an instructional team to promote learning activities for students consistent with District and school educational objectives; alerts site administrators to the special needs of students who exhibit characteristics that differ from the norm; works with specialists to support students; may oversee the activities of a teacher assistant and classroom volunteers; orders classroom supplies and instructional materials; performs additional duties as assigned.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Understanding of State and Federal educational standards.
Familiarity with developmental stages of school-aged children.
Knowledge of District and Department policies and procedures.
Awareness of various teaching methodologies and techniques.
Proficiency in classroom management strategies.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
Competence in reading and interpreting documents such as rules, instructions, and procedural manuals.
Proficiency in writing routine reports and correspondence.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
Basic mathematical computation skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Work is conducted in an indoor environment. The role requires frequent sitting, repetitive motions, visual monitoring, and may involve some lifting.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
Valid Arizona Secondary 6-12 Teaching Certificate in the approved area.
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum qualifications and State certification requirements will be accepted.
